Kastela Marina
We arrived back from Dubrovnik on Saturday afternoon. After our goodbyes to Jessica and Andrew at the bus station, we headed out to the marina to meet up with the rest of our sailing companions.
The yacht is a Hanse 505 - just over 50 foot, 5 cabins and plenty of room so will do very nicely for the next two weeks.
Yachting needs good weather- some wind but not too much. Since we arrived here and got on our yacht there has been a storm raging on and off for three days. Rob was not prepared to take our yacht out into that sort of weather so we have been enjoying time in port.
On Sunday we went to nearby Togir and explored that area. Another fortified old town to check out, some markets and lunch. We started using the local buses which is a much cheaper method of transport than the taxis. It is very simple to use and the drivers are all very helpful. Just one small mistake - we alighted a little soon on the way back and had a bit of walk back. Fortunately it is still very warm here even with the strong winds and thunder storms.
On Monday we headed into Split, on the bus again, and spent several hours in the old town area. This fortified town goes back to Roman times and is very much the tourist attraction. It was very crowded so there must have been some cruise ships in port.
Today has dawned calm and fine so we are now getting ready to cast off from our moarings and head out to one of th islands.
